Most of the students get confused over this issue. There is always a query in their mind if they can get jobs in banking sectors after BA. There is a myth that only commerce students can get jobs in banks. The reason are the subjects- Accountancy, Commerce, Economics. On the other hand, the subjects of arts are – History, Political Science, Geography etc.

So this difference of subjects create a myth that the latter has no value in the banks. They think that in the banks there is only the use of Accounts etc. That’s why most of the students take commerce. Even they don’t take the guidance of their teachers, elders. But the truth is different.

Students of all the streams ( Science/ Commerce/ Arts ) join the banking sectors in various capacities. It means Commerce is not compulsory. However, there are some specific posts which are reserved only for the students of commerce.

There is the written test of 200 marks. It is followed by Interview. After the selection in the bank, the candidates are given training regarding their jobs. So there is no specific role of Commerce of in the job selection. It is open for all.
