Time has gone when students had the choice to do course online from any of the universities of the country. Now they will have the only choice to do this course online from one the 15% selected universities. The central govt has taken this decision to improve the standard of the education in the country.
Before this decision, most of the Private Universities were running online courses on their own without any permission. This decision is a rein to such universities. It had become a big source of earning income. However, students’ future was at the stake.
The prerequisite condition will be to get the permission to make the students do degree, diploma and certificate via this method. NAAC will choose these 15% universities on the basis of ranking of the universities. HRD Minister, Prakash Javedkar has informed that the regulation regarding this decision will be prepared soon.
The Minister said that the universities which are running these courses will get 2 years to improve their ranking . If these universities will not be able to improve their ranking in the given duration, the courses they run will be cancelled.
Online Courses only by 15% Universities in the country
However, there are 16 institutions in the country which are running online courses. The govt has not released any directions regarding these institutions. The technical courses will not come under the ambit of this decision.
Everybody knows that the meeting has been going on of CAB for the last two days to improve the standard of higher education. There is no second opinion that online courses have deteriorated the standard of education and rank of universities at world level. This meeting is being attended by 22 states out of 29 states of the country.
There is no doubt that a no of students who wish to get quality education in the online mode will also be benefited a lot under this new system.
